About this skill
Storyboard to Shot Prompts for Sora
A Sora 2 generation is one shot. A 30-second ad is eight of them, and they only cut together if they were planned together: the same face, the same sweater, the same light, the bottle on the same side of the frame. This skill makes your agent do that planning. It turns a script, outline or one-paragraph brief into a beat sheet, a storyboard table, one self-contained prompt per shot with a shared continuity block, and a stitch plan your editor can follow.
How it works. Type /sora-storyboard-to-shots with your brief: length, aspect ratio, the subject that must stay consistent, any must-say lines and the look. If something essential is missing it asks one short round of questions, or works from stated assumptions if you say "just go". It writes the beats, fixes a continuity block (character, wardrobe, product, set, palette anchors, lighting recipe, lens family, look, audio bed), splits beats into shots timed to Sora 2's clip lengths (4, 8, 12, 16 or 20 seconds, trimmed in the edit), writes each shot prompt with first and last frame descriptions for clean cuts, and checks the plan: durations add up, the block is identical everywhere, one camera move per shot, dialogue fits, text and logos planned as overlays.
What you get. SKILL.md (workflow, clip-length facts, writing rules, Veo and Kling porting notes), templates/storyboard.md (beat sheet, continuity block, storyboard table, shot prompt block, stitch plan, portability table), references/continuity-rules.md (eleven rules for keeping generated shots consistent) and references/example-30s-launch.md (a complete plan for a 30-second product launch clip).
What to change
- Edit the default length, aspect ratio and shot length in
SKILL.md("Inputs" and "Clip-length facts") if you always make, say, 15-second 16:9 spots. - Add your brand's standing continuity block (palette, lighting, lens, look) to
templates/storyboard.mdso every plan starts from it. - If you generate in the Sora app rather than the API, replace the
secondsvalues with the lengths your app shows. - Re-check the Veo and Kling clip lengths in the portability table when those tools update.
Checked against
The files follow the Agent Skills SKILL.md format: spec-only frontmatter, name matching the folder, description under 1024 characters. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and Gemini CLI read this format. We checked the files against the spec on 2026-11-07, checked that every referenced file exists, checked that the worked example's shot lengths add up to 30 seconds, and read OpenAI's video generation docs on the same date for the clip lengths, sizes and extension limits. We have not recorded a test session in each agent. The example output on this page comes from a real run of the skill in Claude Code (Claude Opus) on 2026-11-07 with the request shown under "You say"; we have not generated those shots in Sora.
How to install
Copy the files/ folder to .agents/skills/sora-storyboard-to-shots/ and to .claude/skills/sora-storyboard-to-shots/ in your project (or unpack the zip there), start a new session and type /sora-storyboard-to-shots followed by your brief. The SKILL.md and its reference files also work pasted into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini as a system or project instruction.
