About this prompt
The First Build Prompt
"Build me a dashboard" returns the same admin template ten thousand other people got, and you spend the next half hour editing it back toward your idea. The fix is sixty seconds of structure up front. This prompt names the user, the one job the app must do, the screens in priority order, the data it has to remember and how it should feel — and tells the builder what not to add. It also asks for the data model before any UI, which is where most first builds go wrong.
How to use. Works in Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit Agent, Cursor or Claude Code — anything that builds from a description. Fill in the six variables; keep {{core_task}} to one sentence, because the builder will cut anything that does not serve it. The closing report tells you what was assumed, which is the list of things to check first in the preview.
What to change. If you already have a design, pair this with a reference image and add "match the attached layout's structure, not its pixel spacing". If auth is not needed for v1, delete screen 2 — do not leave it in "just in case".
Not a fit. Edits to an existing codebase (use a scoped-edit prompt instead), and products whose first version genuinely cannot be three screens.
